Jesus was amazed by the man's faith! He said a few special words, and just like that – far away at home – the servant became well again at that very moment!

"When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help. “Lord,” he said, “my servant lies at home paralyzed, suffering terribly.” Jesus said to him, “Shall I come and heal him?” The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. This man's friends loved him so much that they carried him on a mat all the way to see Jesus. The crowd around Jesus was so big they couldn't reach him! What did they do? They climbed onto the roof, made a hole, and lowered their friend right down to Jesus. And guess what? Jesus made the man strong enough to stand up and walk all by himself!

"Some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus. When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus." "And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. He took the girl's hand, said a few words, and just like waking up from a nap, she opened her eyes again. Imagine their joy!

"While Jesus was still speaking, someone came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader. “Your daughter is dead,” he said. “Don’t bother the teacher anymore.” Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.” …He took her by the hand and said, “My child, get up!” Her spirit returned, and at once she stood up." (Luke 8:49-55)

♿ Story #9: A Splash of Healing - Jesus Heals at the Pool of Bethesda

The Bible Story Of Jesus Healing The Sick 4

Have you ever been to a waterpark with super fun slides and a lazy river? In Jesus' time, there was a pool in Jerusalem called Bethesda. It wasn't for splashing and playing, though. According to John 5:4, the first person to enter the pool after an Angel has stirred it up, would be miraculously healed of all sickness! Can you imagine the crowds waiting for their chance?

"Some time later, Jesus went up to Jerusalem for one of the Jewish festivals. Now there is in Jerusalem near the Sheep Gate a pool, which in Aramaic is called Bethesda and which is surrounded by five covered colonnades. Here a great number of disabled people used to lie—the blind, the lame, the paralyzed. One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?” (John 5:1-6)

🗣️ Story #10: Words and Sounds - Jesus Heals a Deaf and Mute Man

Have you ever tried covering your ears, not making a sound, and pretending you couldn't hear anything? Imagine your whole life was like that – you couldn't hear the birds sing, your friends laugh, or even your own voice. For one man, this was his reality. He couldn't hear or speak.

Some people brought him to Jesus, hoping for help. Jesus did something unusual. He took the man away from the crowd, put his fingers in the man's ears, and gently touched the man's tongue. Jesus looked up to heaven and then said, "Be opened!" Suddenly, the man could hear clearly, and he started speaking normally!

"Then Jesus left the vicinity of Tyre and went through Sidon, down to the Sea of Galilee and into the region of the Decapolis. There some people brought to him a man who was deaf and could hardly talk, and they begged Jesus to place his hand on him. After he took him aside, away from the crowd, Jesus put his fingers into the man’s ears. Then he spit and touched the man’s tongue. He looked up to heaven and with a deep sigh said to him, “Ephphatha!” (which means “Be opened!”).

At this, the man’s ears were opened, his tongue was loosened and he began to speak plainly. Jesus commanded them not to tell anyone. But the more he did so, the more they kept talking about it. People were overwhelmed with amazement. “He has done everything well,” they said. “He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.” (Mark 7:31-37)

Creative Activities

  • Healing Hands: Help children trace their hands onto paper. Cut out the hand shapes, and have them write or draw ways they can be like Jesus' healing hands (helping a friend, being kind, forgiving others).
  • Band-Aid Art: Provide construction paper and lots of band-aids! Have the kids decorate their paper with bandages and write phrases like "Jesus heals" or "We need Jesus to heal us."
  • Act it Out: Let children act out the Bible stories they learned. Divide kids into groups to play the parts of Jesus, the sick person, and the people in the story.

Games

  • Healing Relay Race: Divide into teams and have children race by carrying a "sick" friend (stuffed animal or doll) on a blanket towards a "healing zone".
  • "Doctor" Tag: One child is "Doctor Jesus" and can heal "sick" kids by tagging them.
  • First Aid Puzzles: Find or create puzzles with images of doctors, nurses, and medical supplies. Discuss how these helpers relate to Jesus' healing ministry.

Additional Ideas

  • Song Time: Teach children songs about Jesus and healing, like "Jesus Loves Me" or "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands."
  • Prayer: Set aside time for kids to pray for any friends or family who might be sick and in need of healing.

Key Points to Emphasize

  • Jesus' Power: Jesus could heal any sickness because He is the Son of God.
  • Jesus' Compassion: Jesus cared deeply about people who were sick. He healed them because of His great love.
  • Our Response: Jesus wants us to help and care for people who are hurting, just like He did.

Wrapping Things Up
