Chapter 1: The Plot to Kill Paul
Paul’s preaching in Damascus was so powerful that it angered the Jewish leaders. They couldn’t believe that the man who once hunted Christians was now one of them. They conspired to kill him, stationing guards at every gate to catch him if he tried to leave the city (Acts 9:23-24).
Paul knew his life was in danger, but he also knew God had called him to spread the gospel. He trusted that God would protect him, even in the face of death.
Chapter 2: A Daring Escape Plan
The believers in Damascus came up with a risky plan to save Paul. They waited until nightfall, when the city was quiet and the guards were less alert. Then, they took Paul to a house built into the city wall.
Using a large basket and ropes, they lowered Paul through an opening in the wall, safely outside the city gates (Acts 9:25). It was a humbling moment for Paul—a former Pharisee and respected leader—to be lowered in a basket like a piece of cargo. But he didn’t complain. He trusted God’s plan, even if it meant looking foolish.
Chapter 3: Paul’s Journey Continues
Once outside the city, Paul made his way to Jerusalem, where he tried to join the disciples. At first, they were afraid of him—they couldn’t believe he had truly changed. But Barnabas, a kind and encouraging believer, vouched for Paul and helped him gain the disciples’ trust (Acts 9:26-27).
From there, Paul’s ministry grew. He traveled far and wide, sharing the gospel and planting churches. His escape in a basket was just the beginning of a lifetime of adventures for Jesus.
